BBIX Partners with Nagasaki Cable Media to Provide OCX Cloud-based Network Service

BBIX to add OCX connection point at “Nagasaki Cable Media Nagasaki Headquarters”

BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”), a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. that operates an Internet Exchange (“IX”) business, has entered into a business partnership agreement with Nagasaki Cable Media Inc. (“Nagasaki Cable Media”) to provide Open Connectivity eXchange (“OCX”), a cloud-based network service. With this partnership agreement, BBIX will add an OCX connection point at “Nagasaki Cable Media Nagasaki Headquarters” (located in Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture) on April 1, 2025.

OCX is a cloud-based network service provided by BBIX and BBSakura Networks, Inc. (“BBSakura”), a network solutions provider and subsidiary of BBIX. OCX provides on-demand, highly secure, low-latency, scalable connectivity services to a variety of cloud services and data centers used by customers.

Nagasaki Cable Media was established in 1986 and has been in business for 39 years. As a community-oriented cable television operator, Nagasaki Cable Media has supported the information infrastructure of Nagasaki City and the surrounding region. To contribute to the development of communities in Nagasaki Prefecture, Nagasaki Cable Media has provided stable high-speed telecommunication services to the region by proactively introducing the latest technologies, including the development of an optical fiber network for the area and launching “Optical 10G” service ahead of other companies in the region. In addition, Nagasaki Cable Media has developed a large-capacity wide-area network service, “NDX” (Ncm Data eXchange), by building a wide-area optical fiber network in Western Kyushu spanning Nagasaki, Saga, and Fukuoka Prefectures and connecting dedicated lines to Osaka and Tokyo. Nagasaki Cable Media is also providing stable, high-speed communication services to the Western Kyushu area, centering on Nagasaki, to contribute to the development of the local community.

Through Nagasaki Cable Media’s information infrastructure, Nagasaki Cable Media will build a high-quality, secure network utilizing OCX provided by BBIX and BBSakura, which will not only strengthen local information infrastructure, but also contribute to regional development through multifaceted services that meet the needs of local communities.
