BBIX Launches New IX Point “BBIX Tokyo No. 14” at Equinix’s “TY11” Data Center

BBIX establishes fourteenth IX connection point in Tokyo area to provide IX service

BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”), a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. that conducts an Internet eXchange (IX) business, will open “BBIX Tokyo No. 14” at “TY11” (Koto-ku, Tokyo), operated by Equinix Japan K.K., to provide “IX Connect Service” (“IX service”)” from October 29, 2024.

As Internet traffic in Japan increases, Tokyo has become a hub for major content providers and Internet service providers (ISPs) in Japan and overseas to improve services in Asia. By using this IX service at “BBIX Tokyo No.14,” users can smoothly exchange traffic with around 300 BBIX users connected to ”BBIX Tokyo No. 14” as well as other BBIX-operated IX points in the Tokyo area.

The importance of direct peering between Internet companies is growing due to the increasing popularity of cloud services, the expansion of in-house operations of corporate business networks, and the utilization of higher speed access circuits.

BBIX aims to contribute to the enhancement of customers’ interconnection quality and cost reduction by providing opportunities with efficient data traffic exchange through “BBIX Tokyo No. 14.”
