BBIX and Digital Edge Sign Business Partnership for Open Connectivity eXchange

BBIX to expand OCX connection point to OSA1 data center operated by Digital Edge

BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”), a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. that operates an Internet Exchange (“IX”) business, has entered into a business partnership agreement with Digital Edge (Japan) G.K. (“Digital Edge”), one of Asia’s fastest growing data center platforms, to provide Open Connectivity eXchange (“OCX”), a cloud-based network service. Through this partnership agreement, BBIX will open an OCX connection point in Digital Edge’s OSA1 data center in Osaka that will be available from November 1, 2024.

OCX is a cloud-based network service provided by BBIX and BBSakura Networks, Inc. (“BBSakura”), a network solutions provider and subsidiary of BBIX. OCX offers on-demand, highly secure, low-latency, scalable connectivity services to a variety of cloud services and data centers used by customers.

Digital Edge is a trusted and forward-looking data center platform company, established to transform digital infrastructure in Asia by building and operating state-of-the-art, energy efficient data centers rich with connectivity options. Launched in January, 2022, OSA1 offers more than 2,900 cabinets and 14MW of IT power, and is designed to meet the latest demands from cloud, network, and enterprise customers in terms of power specifications, reliability, security and ESG standards. OSA1’s strategic downtown location in Osaka Business Park provides easy access to other network dense locations in western Japan, and also offers a key geographical redundancy location to customers with an existing presence in Tokyo.

Currently OCX is present in three other Digital Edge data centers across Tokyo and Osaka. Therefore, this new connection point at OSA1 will not only enhance the connectivity options available for customers present at the facility, but also strengthen the seamless virtual campus between multiple Digital Edge sites.

By combining BBIX and BBSakura’s secure, high-quality OCX with Digital Edge’s innovative and highly reliable data center platform, BBIX and Digital Edge will help make Japan an information society, enhancing the country’s digital economy by promoting the introduction of next-generation network infrastructure in western Japan.
