BBIX and Cable media waiwai Sign Business Partnership for Open Connectivity eXchange

BBIX to expand OCX connection point to “Cable media waiwai Nobeoka Data Center”

BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”), a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. that operates an Internet Exchange (“IX”) business, has entered into a business partnership agreement with Cable media waiwai Co,ltd. (“Cable media waiwai”) to provide Open Connectivity eXchange (“OCX”), a cloud-based network service. With this partnership agreement, BBIX will add an OCX connection point at Cable media waiwai’s “Cable media waiwai Nobeoka Data Center” on May 1, 2024.

OCX is a cloud-based network service provided by BBIX and BBSakura Networks, Inc. (“BBSakura”), a network solutions provider and subsidiary of BBIX. OCX offers on-demand, highly secure, low-latency, scalable connectivity services to a variety of cloud services and data centers used by customers.

Based in Japan’s Miyazaki Prefecture, Cable media waiwai provides community-based services that make daily lives convenient, enriching, and enjoyable, based on cable TV broadcasting, the Internet, and telephony (fixed-line phones and smartphones), under the corporate philosophy of “providing a succession of new services that help improve the lives of local residents.” In addition, Cable media waiwai actively invests in the evolution of technology, and provides future-oriented support to help its customers achieve sustainable business growth.

By combining BBIX and BBSakura’s secure, high-quality OCX with Cable media waiwai’s services that meet the needs of local customers, BBIX and Cable media waiwai will work toward the promotion of regional DX (Digital Transformation) in Miyazaki Prefecture and provide a network that is needed by everyone in the region.
