NHN Techorus and BBIX Sign Business Partnership to Promote Government Cloud Used by Local Governments
NHN Techorus Corp. (“NHN Techorus”), an AWS Premier Tier Service Partner and a Google Cloud Premier Partner, and BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”), a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. that operates an Internet Exchange (IX) business, will start collaborating for partners of “Open Connectivity eXchange”(“OCX”) provided by BBIX to provide comprehensive support to Japan-based local governments for the construction, operation, and management of AWS-based Government Cloud environments.
To promote this initiative on a nationwide scale, NHN Techorus will expand its collaboration with system integrators nationwide and OCX partners through the “Cloud Chorus Partner Network (CCPN),” a cloud business collaboration program operated by NHN Techorus.
The basic policy stipulates that local governments’ mission-critical systems should be migrated to standard-compliant systems built on the Government Cloud by FY2025. On the other hand, according to a survey by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, there are concerns that the scale of the human resource shortage in IT will expand to around 590,000 by 2030*1, while 51.1% of the employees of IT and telecommunication companies are concentrated in Tokyo*2, and the shortage of local system integrators who are responsible for the migration to the Government Cloud for local governments is an issue.
NHN Techorus holds the highest level of certification in both AWS and Google Cloud, both of which are designated as the Government Cloud providers. NHN Techorus has advanced design, construction, and migration capabilities and extensive knowledge, and as of March 2024, has approximately 4,500 contracts under its cloud comprehensive support service, C-Chorus.
BBIX has been in the network and mobile business since its inception in 2003, and in 2022 it launched a cloud-based network service, OCX as its platform business. Currently, BBIX has OCX network connection locations throughout Japan and has expanded partnerships with regional data center operators, system integrators, cable TV operators, and ISPs, growing into one of the leading platforms in Japan.
The collaboration between NHN Techorus and BBIX to support OCX partners joining the CCPN will enable comprehensive support for local governments using the Government Cloud, from providing network connection environments to building cloud environments, system migration, and subsequent operation and management. In addition, NHN Techorus, with its knowledge of cloud computing, will support local system integrators, enabling a one-stop service from infrastructure to applications. The collaboration between the two companies, which began in 2023, has been successful in providing highly secure networks that connect network locations, data centers, and cloud computing for multiple local governments and in creating optimal cloud environments.

By expanding the partnership, the companies will provide comprehensive support to further accelerate the use of the Government Cloud by local governments, including small and medium-sized local governments nationwide.
