BBIX and BBSakura to Provide Direct Connectivity from “OCX Hikari Internet” to Cisco Systems’ “Webex”
〜Offering will provide more stable “Webex” connectivity for ”OCX Hikari Internet” users〜
BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”), a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. that operates an Internet Exchange (IX) business, and BBSakura Networks, Inc. (“BBSakura”), a network solutions provider and subsidiary of BBIX, will begin offering a dedicated, high-capacity direct connection from its enterprise Internet access service, “OCX Hikari Internet”, to the “Webex” platform provided by Cisco Systems G.K. starting March 2, 2023.
Covid-19 led to the spread of remote work in Japan, and furthermore, DX (Digital Transformation) is now being promoted nationwide. In this context, “Webex” plays an important role as a means of communication among governments, educational institutions, medical institutions, and businesses.
As the use of services via the cloud grows year by year, improving the communication quality of services provided via the cloud is a common challenge facing enterprise customers. Typical Internet connection services are connected to “Webex” via the networks of multiple ISPs (Internet Service Providers), and they are dependent on the quality of each ISP’s network. This network structure sometimes causes audio interruptions, picture quality degradation, and other issues that prevent video conferencing from running smoothly.
“OCX Hikari Internet,” which has Japan-leading large-bandwidth backbones in Japan, is now providing a direct connection to the “Webex” platform to customers to support video conferencing that is low-latency and low-stress.
BBIX and BBSakura will continue to expand their services to help customers accelerate DX and grow their businesses in the multi-cloud era.
