BBIX and BBSakura to Provide Direct Connectivity from “OCX Hikari Internet” to Zscaler
〜Offering will provide more secure and stable Zscaler connectivity for “OCX Hikari Internet” users〜
BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”), a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. that operates an Internet Exchange (IX) business, and BBSakura Networks, Inc. (“BBSakura”), a network solutions provider and subsidiary of BBIX, will begin offering a direct connection from its enterprise Internet access service, “OCX Hikari Internet,” to the network provided by Zscaler, Inc. (“Zscaler”) starting March 28, 2023.
As the use of services via the cloud grows year by year, security assurance for Cloud and Internet access has become a common challenge facing enterprise customers. Typical Internet connection services are connected to the datacenter through a VPN (Virtual Private Network), then aggregating traffic to reach to the Internet. However, as traffic volumes and access lines increased due to the promotion of remote work, aggregation equipment at data centers had difficulty keeping up with traffic processing. As a result, enterprise customers are facing quality degradations, which in turn leads to decreased business efficiency.
Zscaler provides variety of security services (Zero-Trust security), and Zscaler Internet Access (“ZIA”) is one of those services, which eliminates the need for aggregation equipment by conducting monitoring in the cloud, regardless of device or connection location, to solve the above-mentioned VPN issues.
In addition, general Internet access services connect to ZIA via hops of multiple ISPs (Internet Service Providers), so even if there is a secure environment, there is still the potential problem of delay in response caused by the quality of each ISP’s network.
“OCX Hikari Internet,” which has Japan-leading high-bandwidth backbones in Japan, is now providing a direct connection to the Zscaler’s network on which ZIA is provided. This direct connectivity will enable customers who use Zscaler’s security services through “OCX Hikari Internet” to do so with secure and low-stress.
BBIX and BBSakura will continue to expand their services to help customers accelerate DX (Digital Transformation) and grow their businesses in the multi-cloud era.
